Antique Afshar saddle bag (half) with great colours made into a cushion
 
Origin: Afshar tribes of Iran (Persia).
 
Age: The saddle bag (or khorjin) from which this cushion was made is probably around 130 to 110 years old.
 
Materials and method: The pile is hand spun sheep’s wool dyed with colours from natural dye sources with a high degree of colour saturation. The back is plain flat weave. The bag was made into a cushion recently and is stuffed with a pillow filled with down.
 
Condition: Reasonable level of pile but clearly used and worn. The pile is however soft and pleasant to touch (or recline on).
 
Dimensions: 55 x 43 cm.
