Roman silver coin (denarius) issued by the Emperor Domitian, 81 – 96 AD.

 

Obverse: Laureate bust of Domitian looking right with the legend IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM PM TRP XV around.

 

Reverse: The legend IMP XXII COS XVII CENS P P P Minerva standing left holding thunderbolt and spear, shield at her feet.

 

Materials and method: Struck in good quality silver from engraved dies.

 

Die engraver: Unknown engraver at the mint of Rome.

 

Date of minting: Attributed to the years 95 – 96 AD.

 

Origin: Attributed to the mint of Rome. No mint mark.

 

Dimensions:  18 mm diameter.

 

Weight: 3.56 gm

 

Condition: Very Fine.
