Small bronze cast of Tsongkhapa
Description: Tsongkhapa in lotus position on a lotus base, hands held in dharma chakra mudra, the gesture of teaching. Dressed in an elaborate robe with a peaked hat.
Material: Bronze
Origin: Uncertain, possibly Tibet
Maker: unknown but bears a maker’s mark on the bottom in the form of a four petalled flower
Age: Probably first half of 20th century
Dimensions: 8 x 5 x 3 cm
Condition: Excellent with nice old toning.

Comments:
- Tsongkhapa (1357 – 1419 AD) was a revered Tibetan religious philosopher and a central figure for the sect that ruled Tibet until the middle of the 20th century. According to tradition, he was an emanation of the Bodhisattva Manjusri.
